La Costa Esmeralda (The Emerald Coast of Yucatán) located north of Mérida, is known for the frame of beaches and ports distributed along approximately 98 kilometers of coastline. Among its main towns and beaches are Progreso, Telchac, San Crisanto, Chicxulub, Chuburna, Chelem, Santa Clara and Dzilam Bravo. This area is characterized by its incredible conditions for kitesurfing, the winds are very constant practically all year round and the water level is quite low near the beach. Currently, the Costa Esmeralda is a very important investment area in the country. There are still many virgin and exotic beaches, however some new residential, hotel and tourist projects are planned and eventually will detonate the properties prices in a medium long term. Safety in this area is an added value compared to any other beach in Mexico.
